Wardrobes in Parrearra Built for Growing Families

Bedrooms, linen and laundry measured in one visit, designed as one system and installed together, five minutes from our Warana factory.

Parrearra's homes were built for families, and families outgrow storage faster than anything else in the house. School bags in the hallway, sports gear in the garage, a linen cupboard that gave up years ago. Kitchens R Us builds custom wardrobes in Parrearra that carry the whole load: kids' robes with reachable low hanging, adult drawer banks, and matching linen and laundry storage through the rest of the house.

Whole-House Storage, Not Just a Bedroom Robe

Enquiries for wardrobes in Parrearra rarely stop at the main bedroom. By the time a household has two or three children, the pressure has spread to the hall cupboard, the laundry and the space under the stairs.

That is why we quote storage as a system here. Built-in wardrobes in the bedrooms, a proper linen tower in the hallway, and laundry cabinetry that holds baskets rather than balancing them: designed together, manufactured together at Warana, and installed in one visit. It costs less than doing it in three separate rounds, and the finishes actually match.

The local picture

What shapes a wardrobe here

Parrearra is effectively an island. It is bounded to the west by the Mooloolah River, to the north by Nicklin Way, to the north-east by the Parrearra Canal, and to the south-east and south by the Wyuna Canal: which is why the suburb is informally referred to as Kawana Island, and why the canals are unofficially known as Parrearra Lake. Its neighbours are Mooloolaba, Minyama, Buddina, Mountain Creek, Warana and Sippy Downs. The name was proposed in 1967 by Kawana Waters developer Alfred Grant and refers to a length of river; Parrearra was named as a town on 1 September 1967 and redesignated and bounded as a suburb in 1989.

The canals serve a working purpose as well as a residential one: together with the associated locks and weirs, their primary function is flood mitigation for the Kawana Waters area. The suburb itself is residential in character, and its detached housing gives Parrearra a more consistent and more family-oriented feel than the older beachside suburbs to the north.

Homes of this kind were built with more bedrooms than storage. Robe recesses are usually a reasonable size, but the original fit-out was a rail and a shelf, and the standard linen cupboard is a single narrow cavity with four fixed shelves. That works for a couple. It does not work for a household of five with school uniforms, sports kits, beach gear and three sets of bedding.

What we see in Parrearra is displacement rather than failure. The cabinetry is not broken; it has simply been overwhelmed, so belongings migrate to the garage, the hallway floor and the spare room. The practical cost is that a well-planned four-bedroom home starts functioning like a smaller one, and the garage stops holding a car.

What we see here

Common challenges

01

Storage displacement into the garage and hallway

Why it happens

The bedroom cabinetry was specified as a rail and a shelf, so once a household grows past a couple there is nowhere for bedding, sports gear and seasonal clothing to go.

Why it matters

A four-bedroom home starts functioning like a smaller one, and the garage stops holding a car, which is the point at which most people call us.

How we help

We measure every robe, the linen cupboard and the laundry in one visit and design them as a system, so the overflow gets an actual home. We will tell you honestly at the measure how much we think we can reclaim, and where a garage storage unit is the better answer instead.

02

A linen cupboard built for a couple, not a household

Why it happens

The standard linen provision in homes of this type is a single narrow cavity with four fixed shelves, sized to the era's expectations rather than to a family of five.

Why it matters

Towels, bedding and cleaning gear compete for the same four shelves, so the surplus ends up stacked in a wardrobe that is already full.

How we help

We build full-height linen towers with adjustable shelving sized to folded towels and bedding, plus tall sections for vacuums and brooms, and we build them in the same finish as the robes so the house reads as one job.

03

Children cannot reach their own clothes

Why it happens

A standard robe puts a single hanging rail at adult height and everything else on a high shelf.

Why it matters

Children cannot use their own wardrobe, so clothes live on the floor and a parent runs the room; and a robe built around a five-year-old is wrong again at fourteen.

How we help

We drop the hanging rail to a height a child can reach, use drawers instead of high shelves for everyday clothing, and keep the upper section for bedding and out-of-season items. Everything sits on adjustable shelving with a second rail position, so the robe changes as the child does rather than being replaced.

04

Family cabinetry gets used far harder than it gets looked at

Why it happens

Storage in a busy household is opened, loaded and leaned on constantly, and board drawer boxes on basic runners were not built for that.

Why it matters

Drawers stop running true, carcasses go out of square, and the fit-out fails well before the family has finished needing it.

How we help

We use metal drawer sides with 16mm bottoms rather than board drawer boxes, 16mm full backs, and mortice-and-tenon interlock construction, so the carcass stays square under load. The workmanship warranty runs seven years, which covers the period a family home is hardest on its storage.

What we offer

What we make

01

Built-in wardrobes

Custom-built to each bedroom's opening with double hanging, drawer banks and adjustable shelving.
In Parrearra children's rooms we set a low rail at reachable height and keep the upper section reconfigurable for later.
02

Walk-in wardrobes

Full fit-out with drawer towers, open hanging and shoe storage, planned so drawers clear the doorway.
For Parrearra's larger canal-side and two-storey homes where the main bedroom has the floor area.
03

Linen presses and hallway storage

Full-height towers with adjustable shelving sized to folded towels and bedding, plus tall sections for vacuums and brooms.
The cupboard every Parrearra family home runs out of first.
04

Laundry cabinetry

Overhead cupboards, a broom tower, and a basket-height base unit so washing is not stacked on the floor.
Built in the same finish as the wardrobes and usually installed the same day.
05

Kitchens and vanities

Our core work for over 25 years: full design, manufacture and installation, plus bathroom vanities to match.
Quoted alongside the storage when the pressure has reached the kitchen too.
06

ESIPAK DIY wardrobes

A practical way to stage a Parrearra family home: the bedrooms now, the linen and garage storage later.
Why us

Made here, fitted by us

We manufacture everything at 14 Technology Drive, Warana, about five minutes from Parrearra, and we have been making cabinetry on the Sunshine Coast for more than 25 years. For a family job that means two practical things: we can do the whole house in one manufacturing run and one install, and we are close enough that a service call years later is not an ordeal.

Family cabinetry gets treated harder than any other kind, so the build specification matters more than the door colour. Our workmanship warranty on installed cabinetry runs seven years, and our ESIPAK range carries a lifetime hardware warranty. We also design for the children, not around them: adjustable shelving throughout means the robe changes as the child does, rather than being rebuilt at fourteen.

Kitchens R Us does not have a Parrearra address. We service Parrearra from our established factory and showroom at 14 Technology Drive, Warana: roughly five minutes away, in the neighbouring suburb.

Answers

Frequently asked questions

Can you quote all the bedrooms and the linen cupboard at once?

Yes, and we recommend it in Parrearra. Measuring the whole house in one visit lets us design the storage as a system, run it through the factory as a single job, and install it in one hit. It works out cheaper than three separate rounds, and the finishes and hardware actually match rather than being close enough. The quote itemises each room so you can stage it if you prefer.

How do you design a child's wardrobe differently?

We drop the hanging rail to a height a child can reach, use drawers instead of high shelves for everyday clothing, and keep the upper section for bedding and out-of-season items. Everything is on adjustable shelving with a second rail position, so when the low rail is no longer needed you move it rather than replace the robe. It is a small design decision that adds years of usefulness.

Our garage has become the storage room. Can wardrobes fix that?

Often, largely. In Parrearra the overflow into garages is usually bedding, sports gear and seasonal clothing that has nowhere else to go. A full-height linen tower plus properly configured robe uppers absorbs most of it. We will tell you honestly during the measure how much we think we can reclaim, and where a garage storage unit is the better answer instead.

Will the new cabinetry stand up to kids?

That is what the build specification is for. We use metal drawer sides with 16mm bottoms rather than board drawer boxes, 16mm full backs, and mortice-and-tenon interlock construction, so the carcass stays square under load. Our workmanship warranty is seven years, which covers the period a family home is hardest on its storage.

How disruptive is the installation?

Less than most renovation work. A single wardrobe is generally a one-day job; a whole-house storage package might run two to three days. We work room by room, contain dust, and take the old cabinetry away with us. You will need bedrooms emptied of clothing before we start, and we will confirm exactly which rooms and when at booking.

Do you charge for the measure and quote?

No, both are free. We come to your Parrearra home, measure every opening you want covered, discuss how the household actually uses each space, and give you an itemised written quote separating doors, hardware, internals and installation. Our showroom at 14 Technology Drive, Warana is open Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm if you would rather start with finishes.

Do you offer anything for people doing their own install?

Yes, the ESIPAK flat-pack range. It is made to our specification at the Warana factory, cut to your measurements, and backed by a lifetime hardware warranty. It is a practical way to stage a Parrearra family home: the bedrooms now, the linen and garage storage later. Bring your measurements to the Technology Drive showroom and we will size and price it with you.

Book a measure

If the garage has become the storage room, start with a whole-house measure rather than a single robe. We will measure every opening you want covered, discuss how the household actually uses each space, and give you an itemised written quote that separates each room so you can stage it if you prefer. Both the measure and the quote are free. Call (07) 5493 6075, email info@kitchensrus.net.au, or visit the Warana showroom weekdays 7:30am to 4:00pm.
