None of it belongs in a clothing robe, and in most Currimundi homes there is nowhere else for it, so it ends up in the bedroom, the hallway or on the garage floor. We build a proper clothing wardrobe, then deal with the gear separately, at the door it arrives through.

Currimundi wraps around the lake and its tidal creek at the southern end of the Kawana coast, and its housing is genuinely mixed, original beach cottages and 1970s low-sets near the water, extensive 1980s and 1990s brick inland, and a continuing layer of duplex and unit infill throughout. There is no single wardrobe answer for that range of buildings.
There is, however, a single shared pressure, and it is the lifestyle. The lake is in daily use for swimming, paddling and fishing, and the beach is a short walk from much of the suburb. The environment compounds it: salt water on two sides, high humidity for much of the year, and damp gear stored in an unventilated cavity is exactly how both the cabinetry and the clothing suffer. So we divide the problem, a properly specified clothing robe in the bedroom, and ventilated, hard-wearing storage for everything that comes home wet.

Frequently asked questions
Where should beach gear actually live?
At the door it comes through, not in a bedroom. Full-height cabinetry in the garage or at the back entry, with hooks for wetsuits, slatted shelving for boards and fins, and deep drawers for towels and tackle, stops sand and salt water reaching the rest of the house. It is the highest-impact storage change we make in Currimundi.
Can wet gear be stored inside a wardrobe safely?
Only in a properly separated, ventilated compartment, and even then it is second best. A sealed cavity holds moisture against the board and against your clothing. If the bedroom is genuinely the only option we will build it with ventilation and a hard-wearing lining, and we will tell you honestly what the trade-off is.
My house is an original lakeside cottage. Can you work with it?
Yes, and we enjoy it. Openings in the oldest Currimundi homes are shallow with low headers, and fifty years of settlement means nothing is square. We measure at several heights, scribe the frame to the wall as it is now, and build the carcass to those figures at Warana.
Does the humidity here really affect cabinetry?
It does, and predictably. The failures we replace most often are swollen shelf edges and corroded door tracks, both at the points where cheap cabinetry leaves board or steel exposed. Moisture-resistant board with sealed high-impact edging and metal drawer sides is what we quote as standard, not as an upgrade.
Can you do the garage and the bedroom in one project?
That is how we prefer to quote it, because the two problems are connected. Everything is measured in the same visit, cut in the same batch at Warana, and usually installed across consecutive days in matching finishes.
How much does garage storage cost compared with a bedroom robe?
Typically less per linear metre, because the finishes are practical rather than decorative, but it varies with height, drawer count and whether you want doors. We itemise both on the same quote so you can see exactly what each part of the house costs.
Do you service Currimundi if I’m closer to Caloundra?
Yes. Currimundi sits inside our regular Nicklin Way run, and our service area extends well past Caloundra in any case. Location does not change your quote, your lead time or your 7-year workmanship warranty.
